July event postponed: Next event Sep 19th

We are sorry to say we will not be holding an event on July 18th as previously advertised. HOWEVER, we are super excited that we’ll still be able to see the excellent line up of Paula Varjack and Justina Kehinde at our next event on September 19th!

In yet more exciting news, we are planning a new sibling event starting in the autumn! The Quiltbag Crafternoon will be a relaxed art and craft space, held in Barracks Lane Community Garden. We’ll bring some materials and you’re welcome to bring your own projects too. Entry is free but we welcome donations for art materials and to support the garden. We’ll let you know the dates for the Crafternoon soon.

Have a wonderful summer and we’ll look forward to seeing you in September!

Next event: 16th May

NEW UPDATE! We will have music by Lisa Doscher, an Oxfordshire singer-songwriter who plays atmospheric indie-folk.

UPDATE: Unfortunately Phousa can no longer make it. We wish her speedy recovery and look forward to enjoying the talents of Keith, Ceri and Sally!

At our next event we’ll have poetry by the excellent Keith Jarrett, whose show Identity received 5 star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe. We’ll also be enjoying music by Quiltbag Cabaret favourite Phousa, and poetry by Ceri Lloyd. All of this will be compered by the hilarious Sally Outen!

In the arts room, try out blackout poetry. With a marker pen, an old magazine or newspaper and some imagination, create poetry by selecting which words to leave visible. Or join the stitching circle and help make the Quiltbag quilt!

If you can’t make it in person, you’re welcome to join us for video chat. We’ll be online during the arts session 9 : 15 – 10pm. Log into http://www.oovoo.com and look for Quiltbag Cabaret.

Our raffle this month is supporting No Going Back, a charity working to ensure liberty, equality and justice for LGBT asylum seekers in the UK.http://nogoingback.org.uk/

As usual, we’ll be in the East Oxford Community Centre from 7:45 – 11:30.

Tickets £7/£5, available on the door or via Eventbrite.
